These supports align closely with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) requirements. Let’s explore how:
1. Individualised Planning and Support: Each workshop is tailored to meet the individual needs of participants, ensuring that support is relevant and effective.
2. Skill Development: Workshops focus on developing practical, employable skills that are directly applicable to the workplace.
3. Capacity Building: The program builds participants’ capacity to perform and succeed in a work environment by addressing essential skills and behaviours.
4. Confidence Building: By providing practical experience and tailored support, the workshops help increase participants’ confidence in their abilities to seek, secure, and maintain employment.
5. Preparation for Employment: Directly addresses key areas needed for successful employment, from job readiness and communication to stress management and financial literacy.
The workshops developed for the School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) program involving the Good in the Hood Food Relief Program align well with the NDIS Finding and Keeping a Job (FAKAJ) funding requirements.
We are providing practical, skill-building activities that prepare participants for employment. They focus on building the capacity and confidence of young people with disabilities, ensuring they have the necessary skills to find and keep a job. This approach not only meets the immediate goals of the SLES program but also aligns with the longer-term objectives of FAKAJ funding, facilitating a smooth transition from school to employment and enhancing participants’ independence and employability.
